Tun Siti Hasmah

Yes! It’s theatre time! Actually I do not love theatre so much, but because of this is one of the events made by our lecturers to fulfil the syllabus of the subject(Leadership & Management),so by hook or by crook ,we have to join this event. Honestly, the feeling from watching theatre is much different than watching movies. The truthful in theatre makes it more interesting for us to watch it. I haven’t watch any theatre before this and yes, this was the first time for me to watch the theatre. I have heard there were many theatres have been showed by the Istana Budaya such as Upin & Ipin(les Copaque) and Puteri Gunung Ledang(Infiniti Productions) so on, so forth, but frankly speaking, I don’t have any intention to watch those. But when I heard about Tun Siti Hasmah theatre, I was so eager to watch it. Thankfully, our lecturers decided to take us to watch this theatre on 14 November 2012(Wednesday) last week, with 4 buses were rent to bring about 120-140 students. And I have to admit that it sucks when we are told to wear a formal attires and shoes. However , rules are rules. Either u have to follow the rules, or don’t go to the theatre. That’s it.

So, these are my overviews about the theatre. As we know the theatre of Tun Dr Siti Hasmah is directed by Erma Fatima at Istana Budaya. I saw the poster says the story lies on “Behind every great man,there is a great woman”. For me, this theatre has the best timing set, the best costume, the best seat price as well (RM18), the best storyline, the best at everything. I know,  most of our producers now are trying to venture into theatre. Do that. I have respect to actors/actress who can act in theatre more than in a movie or dramas.

            As for this theatre, I watched it on the first opening night. So yes, mistakes are everywhere. From the timing, the lines and all. But I bet that day, it’ll be a perfect performance. But that’s the thrill part of watching a theatre. Mistakes will always be there, either from the stage man, props or even the actor/actress themselves. So do not worry about that. Eja who plays the older Siti Hasmah, Lisa Surihani plays as the teenager/young adult Siti Hasmah, Nazim Othman as the young adult Tun M,and also Esma Daniel who plays older Tun M have been doing great in being their respective characters.

The only thing that I do need to see improvements are the plots. The story telling part, the flow of the story. Since this is actually a tribute theatre, they can’t just show Tun Siti Hasmah in one perspective. They should combine her being a great mother for her daughters and sons too. They should not neglect that part. We want to know her more. We want to see how she was with her children and etc.

Other than that, as there was a plot when Tun M decided to resign his position as the Prime Minister, it should be serious so we can know the actual feeling when that happened. But the thing doesn’t go as what the audiences want. The audiences in the theatre burst out into laughter while watching that plot because in due to the existence of Rafidah Aziz’s character maybe. Suppose this should be a serious plot but at the end of the day, this plot just becomes a dumb joke for the audiences. Apart from that, everything was okay except I think the Anwar, Nik Aziz and others thingy are not supposed to be there. It does not make any sense at all I should say.

Anyway, a big kudos to Erma Fatima for her effort and contribution to let the world know how big were the sacrifices made by a person called a woman. Lisa Surihani's acting was almost perfect except that she was struggling with her lines a few times. As for Eja, she was magnificent and I believe she's meant to be in the industry. And it is important to note that I am very proud of Tun Dr Siti Hasmah as she is Malaysia’s second female doctor. 

So guys!How was it? Mesti macam best kan? Hahaha.. Btw, prasan x my review is quite "skema"? Sebab this is the copy version.. Yang review ni assignment aku yg kene submit kat lecturer..n yes!that's why bahasa die agak skema.. Jarang2 ye nk tgok aku tulis english A/O-level cmni tau..hahaha..
